So, my last day of freedom. And the last post for a while. (Everyone breathes a sigh of relief).
Where to start... well, I was in court again today, my third time (there will come a day when I stop counting, I think). While I was there, proceedings were fairly sedate, so I began making observations of everything other than the arguments that were being put forward.
Firstly, I guess some people never get over stage-fright. Even the Honorable Barrister had shaking hands. Alternately, he could have some sort of neurological condition. But I've spoken to barristers during break times, and, especially after rapid-fire debate, they are often coasting an adrenaline high, unable to sit still, talk at a normal speed or to eat. Seriously, barrister-ing is an extreme sport.
Secondly... how much of counsel's argument does the magistrate actually pay attention to? This wasn't so much of an issue today when the barrister was reading his (lengthy) submission, as the magistrate could follow along, but I do wonder sometimes...
Finally- environmental cases are often argued on merits bases rather than legal, which, taking into consideration other types of law in Australia, seems a little unusual. Hm.

Next random topic: Politics. Are conservative factions so again everything that liberal factions say because they're scared of China?
...
I didn't quite see the connect there myself at first. However, the reasoning is that:
1. Some(?) liberal parties have supported China's growth.
2. Conservative parties don't want China to become an Eastern Superpower.
3. Therefore conservative governments are doing everything they can to oppose ALL liberal policies, even ones they should otherwise agree with.
Does that make sense? Not being particularly politically savvy, I am not sure, but it is an interesting argument.

That mischievous velvet-coated little gentlemen of mine tried running away on Sunday. He returned with his plush coat filled with 'Farmer's Friends'. Jordan, you should really take care of your coat better.

It's Halloween today, and I'm stuck in the house writing a report. The most I can do is wear my dead-bunny skirt from Hong Kong brand Vertical Club (the print is of dead pastel bunnies on black fabric ... accompanied by cats, ribbons, stars and ... mushrooms ...) and contemplate covering my room with Gothic pictures again.
Next year, I'm definitely going for the Under the Blue Moon festival.

That is a resolution. (Affirmed by the special effects). I hear it was cancelled this year while they regather, but that hopefully it will be on again next year. Fingers crossed.
And on that note, I should probably do some work. I will be back on 25 November.
