Buying a lottery ticket ~law clerkships; Aurora Project; SydMUN 2011~

As in, that story about the guy who prays everyday to some god/spirit/thing to win the lottery, and one day, the god/spirit/thing says - okay, I'll let you win the lottery, so just buy a bloody ticket will ya????

So in other words, I am currently buying my tickets.

That year is coming up, you know, the one that law students wait for. For the past three years, we've heard 'We only take students on in fourth year'. Well, here it is.

So hopefully, the end of next year will see me working in a law firm for a brief amount of time as a gopher clerk. Before that, there is research, letter writing, resume tweaking, frantic studying to make marks look better (ahaha) and an interview with some ridiculous question like 'If you lived in the Jurassic, would you be a triceratops?' (Well, no, because there were no triceratops on the Jurassic, but you get the idea).

Another thing just around the corner (potentially) is the Aurora Native Title Internship Program. I'm applying for it in March with the hope of getting in for June. Where should I go? I like the sound of Perth. Or Darwin maybe. Hm.

The idea behind this is that students can assist Indigenous groups in a few different areas. I'm going for the law bit (of course) which means helping out Native Title disputes (which I've talked about in this post).

Hopefully I'll then have that as another experience.

Oh, and SydMUN is tomorrow. Well, it kinda sorta started today, but I sprained my foot, so...

Anyway, the next two days should hopefully have accounts of the goings-on at SydMUN 2011. I guess you can also follow the ridiculousness on my twitter account:

as I will probably be tweeting and retweeting the events of the day, mostly from UNEP, as that is where I am, as Canada (yay, facilitator's role).

We will see.
